I hope that by sharing our story you will consider adoption or support adoption with donations that will help families bring home children.
Our story started after seven miscarriages, broken dreams and tremendous heart-ache. If you are battling infertility I know you can relate to those feelings. We thought maybe we were not meant to be parents...God must have other plans for us.
After making a decision to stop the madness of treatments we wanted to change the course of our life. That meant diving head first into big careers, traveling, and just planning our retirement with the two of us.
However, a person once told me that there is an old Jewish saying “Man plans and God laughs”. He must have been rolling down the hill laughing at us because he had BIG plans for our life which thru us completely off course.
It started when we dabbled with the idea of adoption. After going to meetings and discussing with other couples we just thought...to much risk, not ready, too much money, and we are just plain tired now. We put the thought of pursuing this out of our mind. Then one day it all changed. I was taking a break from conference calls and sat down to clear my mind. I flipped on the TV to get my mind off of work. It was on the show Adoption Story. I remember thinking “oh, let me just change this” but for some reason I became engulfed in the story. Then it was the words of the agency that changed our life “All God’s Children”. The name struck me immediately.
By the end of the show I was on the website researching adoption. When Mark came home we discussed it and he was also open to talking to the agency. After much debate and some divine intervention (another story) we decided to choose Russia as our country. All God’s Children had a strong program in Siberia which seemed to fit our desires for a child.
The paperwork was challenging and sometimes just plain frustrating which took about 60 days to complete. We had one failed attempt to adopt a 15month old girl that came with much heart ache and painful decisions. However, we found that if you hold on to God’s promises and know in your heart that you are on track we can tell you that you will be amazed with the blessings that are waiting for you.
Oksana came into our life in February 2004 when we flew to Siberia to meet her. There were many memories...especially that it was 25below zero! I remember falling in love immediately and seeing Mark hold back tears as she was placed in our arms. She was perfect. She was beautiful!
It has been almost three years from her homecoming into our life. We have no regrets. She has brought intense joy, purpose and love of life into our home. She is everything we could have dreamed a daughter to be. She is also able to touch many people with her tender spirit and big smile!
Adoption is not an easy road to take but “no pain, no gain”. However, adoption can save a child from a horrible future in most cases an orphanage without love, human contact and delayed education. Adoption saved Oksana from being blind for the rest of her life. She had a small eye operation and now is perfect healthy. Please change a child’s life...save them and gain a sense of purpose for your life. Call us for more information or log-on to our agency’s choice below which comes highly recommended by us.
